Well, I had this vision that I'd have all kinds of time on vacation to blog. But you know how when you're at some place else, things just seem to take more time? And, it is/was the holidays.
But anyway, here are the final FOs of 2013:
Baby Pach and Gaucho Pants
You know when you have a vision of an FO picture? Well, I had the PERFECT idea for this FO picture. I finished baby pach awhile ago but then I decided I would make Wiggle pants and reverse the yarn on Baby Pach. I was almost finished with the first leg and then kind of held them up against Wiggle and thought - "these look more like capris." But I was running out of yarn... so I started the other leg and went back and forth... swapping out DPNS and assorted circs. When I got done with the pattern, I just randomly extended the pattern for another 10 rows or so. When I finished the pants, Partner said they reminded him of the pants worn by Argentinean cowboys.
And then it was time for those FO pictures I dreamed of. Wiggle in his pants, reaching lovingly for his new softie....
And then...
Okay, not really. Actually, it's wasn't really that bad... he took a lot of pictures before the meltdown. But not so much interest in Baby Pach.
Next up:
Only the yarn was shown here earlier since this was Partner's Christmas gift. I decided at the last minute that I had time to make him something. This wasn't actually the case since I didn't finish the socks for my Dad. Here is Partner's Windschief in action as we walked around my parent's place. So serious!
When we got here, it was so chilly, I cast on for some mitts for Wiggle. I was going to knit booties too, but that didn't happen! Partner calls them sock mitts since they go on which ever appendage seems to need the coverage more.
Another Christmas knit. Or, since the recipient "doesn't do Christmas, you know that," it's a "I'm really glad you're in my life" gift. Said friend is a bit shy so Wiggle agreed to model, but he doesn't really sit still. :) It's a drop stitch cowl. If I were to do a separate post on this FO, it would be titled "I don't think that word means what you think it means" because the yarn is supposedly bulky to super bulky and it was more like a worsted. As a result, the cowl is kind of floppy.
And finally, a hat that I whipped up. This yarn was going to be used to make teething rings, but I liked it so much, I made a hat. And then still had enough yarn for the rings! And Rue's sweater is just still fitting!
And that's it! All told, I finished 4500 yards of finished knitting this year, a bit short of the 5,000 yards I'd hoped for. I've got quite a few WIPs so hopefully 2014 will be a year of 5,000 yards!
We've been trying to get outside each day, despite the cold, as Wiggle loves being outside. As our holiday winds to a close, I'll miss seeing my boys bundled up in their handknits...

Baby pach looks GREAT! My Flo has the same issue with the legs... Currently there are yarn bows keep them together :)
